Running, Driving, and Snow

Well, the running season has officially opened. Weekend before last (3-24) was the Rockin Robin Run (R3). It was a 10 K out and back-out and back because they changed the route due to a forecast of 6 inches of snow. That didn’t happen fortunately, but it was cold and the wind blew in my face all the way out and almost all the way back except for the last 1/2 mile. Needless to say it was a slow, slow, slog. I don’t have any races in April, but I guess I should find one cause I really need the training.

We took the dogs for a walk on the Douglas trail the week before that. There was still some snow out but it wasn’t as cold. We still haven’t hit 50 degrees yet and we are just about to break a record for the latest 50 degree day yet. Needless to say we are all very done with winter.

I had EPIC training a couple of weeks ago and check out the sweet phone I was using. Dang, I almost stole the head set. Maybe they will give these to the actual staff after training is over and I can get ride of my 20 year old model….

Last weekend I went to Grafton to see Blane and Melanie for our belated birthday celebrations. It did snow for that. It wasn’t snowing here but by North Minneapolis the roads were terrible. If I hadn’t had to white knuckle the steering wheel I would have taken pictures of the cars in the ditch and the terrible driving conditions for about 200 miles or so. It added over an hour to my drive. At least.

My car was covered with salt and snow melt. And the wheel wells were packed with snow. But we got that out before I left.

Of course, when I got to Blane’s the wind was blowing a wind chill of 2 degrees. That’s just not right. (It was 40 degrees the week before..)

So mostly we stayed in which was OK with me after my long horrible drive.

Melanie and Me—Happy Birthday. She gave me a great bag-I have a weakness for bags. It’s already come in handy for my knitting. It’s recycled and very ecofriendly. AND I don’t have a picture yet. But next time.

And—a trip can’t be complete without a visit from Kitten

She’s 13 now.

So, we are now in the midst of a winter storm complete with snow on 04/03. Yay for us. At least I didn’t have to drive home in it. But I do have to get to work. Ugh. Next weekend is the Mpls Yarn Shop Shop Hop. It better melt by then or I’m not going to be happy. Not.At.All.
